History

UFC was founded by Art Davie and Rorion Gracie alongside Semaphore Entertainment Group (SEG). “The UFC's first event took place on 12 November 1993 in Denver, Colorado.” Early matches featured fighters from boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, karate, and wrestling battling inside the iconic fenced Octagon with almost no restrictions or weight classes. Royce Gracie dominated these early tournaments using jiu-jitsu.
