Built in 1948 by the Allan Herschell Company, the Encanto Carousel originally served as a centerpiece for Kiddieland Amusement Park in Phoenix, Arizona. Crafted from a rare combination of wood and aluminum due to post-war material shortages, it features hand-carved horses that have delighted generations of children. When Kiddieland closed and its rides were slated for auction during a 1986 park renovation, a dedicated local fundraising coalition successfully bought and saved the carousel. Following a complete restoration, the historic ride was re-dedicated in 1991 for the grand opening of the newly renamed Enchanted Island Amusement Park. Officially gifted to the City of Phoenix in 1998, it remains the oldest continuously operating carousel in Arizona.
It costs $6.50 plus tax for a single ride, book of 10 rides costs $51.75 plus tax, book of 20 rides costs $72.45 plus tax, and all day-ride pass costs $29.50 plus tax.
