Coco's curry holds a special place in my heart, and stomach. When I was younger, I lived in Okinawa, a small island some 400 miles off the southern coast of mainland Japan. It was here where I had first tried Coco's curry. My very first time ever going to the restaruant, I hate to admit, I did not have the curry. In my defense I was 6 years old and it looked scary to me. However the longer we lived there the more comfortable I got eating the curry until the point where I craved it. Unfortunately, my mother got sick one time and had thrown up curry from that nights dinner. It wasn't the curry's fault mind you, there was a stomach bug at her work. No matter who's fault it was however, my mom couldnt eat coco's for a while after. Which is honestly totally fair since throwing up a food isnt really an appetizing memory. I did not live in Okinawa forever, unfortunately, seeing as how we were only there since my dad was in the Air-Force. At the age of 10, we were moved to Nebraska :( Thankfully the story doesnt end there. I moved to Santa clarita in august of 2020, and realized that there were coco's chains in LA. At the time, it was hard to go to eat though because of a little tiny global pandemic. The first time I had it in California, me and my sister drove down to La, picked up the curry (because dine in wasnt an option,) and drove it back to Santa Clarita. Even though it was cold, slightly soggy, and a little old, it was still just as good as I remembered it. It honestly tasted exactly as it had in Japan, though I guess that's the wonders of chain restaurants. Flash forward to today, and every chance I get to go to LA I salivate at the opportunity to maybe have coco's. If anybody ever asks me for a reccomendation for a restaurant, I will never hesitate to mention Coco's. My order has stayed the same for the last decade; Chicken cutlet with vegetable(potato, carrot, onion, green beans) cheese, and a spice level 5, with an order of garlic naan for the table. If you, Mr. Burrill, are still reading, then I think you, Mr. Burrill, should go to coco's curry this very instant.Â
