History: 

The Balboa Park Carousel is a historic Herschell-Spillman menagerie carousel built in 1910, originally located in Los Angeles and Coronado before coming to Balboa Park in 1922. It was moved to its current location by the San Diego Zoo in 1968 to make way for the Fleet Science Center. Owned by Forever Balboa Park, the carousel was designated a historical resource by the City of San Diego in 2021 and is known for its brass ring game.
