That a small village embedded in mountains is the White Dragon’s birthplace. Before the time of its creation, snow was gentle and melted upon contact with the earth. “Winter” was not a concept yet, for intact snow was never seen, crops were never endangered, and the temperature never dropped. What is known now as "spring" was the natural, constant state of the world.
All continents on the planet were green and lush.
The White Dragon comes to be on December 5th in an old mountain temple. Its presence on our plane summons howling wind, unrelenting frost, and ice that can cut skin. The high-reaching mountains and cavernous valley keeps the deadly storm entirely concentrated in this infinitesimally small section of the globe.
The villagers are devastated by the cold. As the storm comes with no warning, the people are unable to prepare for it. In a desperate bid for survival, much of the flora and fauna burrow beneath the snow. Without many wild plants and animals they recognize as edible, the villagers are left scrambling.
Famine spares nothing and no one. Death spares even fewer.
