Over time, as Atherona grew older, she struggled to fit in a society where individuals believed in the myth that gingers had no soul. Atherona starts to question her identity because of the way people viewed her. She felt disconnected from society because of the rejection from the people of her town. This stereotype that gingers have no soul coming from the townspeople, is a label that attacks Atherona’s perception of herself, making her believe that she is unwanted or an outcast from others in her community.
Atherona meets another one of her kind, a girl with bright sparkling majestic red hair. She asked her if she feels like an outcast, but this red-haired girl doesn’t. Instead, she embraced her differences and hoped Atherona would do the same. Atherona then started to realize that she should embrace her differences.
