A Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program offers students the opportunity to explore a specific area or career of interest and to acquire the skills and experience that will assist them in their post-secondary pathway: Apprenticeship, College, University & the Workplace. 

Each SHSM program includes: 

• 8-10 Senior Credits

• Sector Recognized Certifications 

• Safety Awareness Training

• Experiential Learning

• Use of the Ontario Skills Passport 

• "Reach Ahead" Experiences 

The SHSM program provides students with many additional opportunities, including the ability to:

• customize their secondary school education to suit their interests and talents through a specialized bundle of credits

• explore, identify & refine career goals

• make informed decisions regarding post secondary education destinations

• access resources, equipment & expertise that may not be available in their home secondary school

• receive a special SHSM red seal designation on their diplomas 

• network with potential employers
