Mission Statement

The NativityMiguel Middle School is a faith-based middle school transforming the lives of underserved students in a secure and nurturing environment on single gender campuses: the St. Monica Campus for girls and the St. Augustine Campus for boys.

In partnership with our families, we deliver a uniquely effective education that includes an extended school day and school year, dedicated and caring teachers, personal mentoring and continuing support through high school graduation.

Since September 2004, the NativityMiguel Middle School of Buffalo has provided middle school students the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty through education. Many students had failed at school and were ready to give up. Today, students at our St. Monica Campus for young women and St. Augustine Campus for young men embrace the programs they need to prepare for success in high school and beyond. Our graduates now attend many of the area’s top public and private high schools and are continuing on to college.

community-based learning partnership: nativitymiguel

"The Canisius College CBL students at NativityMiguel Middle School tutor students at both the girl’s school, St. Monica, and the boy’s school, St. Augustine. Tutoring includes strengthening reading and writing skills, supporting ELL students, working on science fair projects, and completing homework. In addition, Canisius College students worked with teachers to create and implement activities to address the social and emotional needs of the students. Their role at NativityMiguel is best described as supplementing the work of the faculty and staff to meet the many and diverse needs of the students."

-Susan Cain, Volunteer Coordinator

TOGETHER we will create and nurture a lifelong love of knowledge.

community-based learning partnershiP: north park

"The Canisius College Partnership has proven to be invaluable at North Park Community School. The college students work directly with our students and families during the after school program, as well as during our Saturday Academy program. Before working with our students, the college students are given a list of programs to support our students, based on the college students' personal interest. Some enrichment programming and workshops that the college students engage in promote learning, exploration, critical thinking, and youth development through our Children's Book Club, our STEAM gym, the Diversity Room, and various arts and crafts activities. The Community-Based Learning students have also helped with fund raising, advertisement and promotions, and hosting a food drive on campus for our school."

-Megan Lewis, Community School Navigator.
