Legally Blonde Heats Up!

Another weekend rehearsal and everything is coming together. This show is amazing! One of the more complex and difficult shows we have attempted- but the end result will be fabulous. Just look at these superstars!

Year 11 Media

The Year 11 Media students have been studying representation in the media. As part of their practical Outcome they were required to write/shoot/edit a 1-4 minute film representing a time, a place, a person or group, or emotion. Some worked in groups and others worked solo. Here are 3 of the films produced. Danial's is a representation of suburbia after dark, Vincent's is a representation of falling in love, and Elliot, Liam, Maddie and Remi produced a representation of a moment in time - 2.15 to be exact. The students will make another film next semester, preparing them for their Year 12 films next year.

Dean Robinson MWSC Alumni 2014

Dean started performing at a young age, but it wasn't until he performed as The Mysterious Man in 'Into The Woods' with MWSC that he realised his true passion for Musical Theatre, a passion that he still holds to this day. Thanks to Drama at MWSC he learnt lots of performance skills like confidence, creating characters and physical movement which took him to Showfit, where he studied two years of Full Time Musical Theatre. Since finishing that course he has Choreographed for Nova Music Theatre's 'Wicked' and 'Godspell.' He also performed in the new play 'The Helendale Nude Footy Calendar' as part of the Midsumma Festival, and performed his solo cabaret 'Cat/ Dog- A Cabaret' at Chapel off Chapel as part of the Cabaret Showcases.

It's just been announced he'll be playing Mark in Cloc Music Theatre's A Chorus Line later this year.

Sculpture (3D Art) at the Senior campus

After completing the ceramics unit in Year 8, many students choose to continue with sculpture in both Year 9 and Year 10. This subject is called 3D Art. Our resident sculpture teacher is Ms Spiller. In this/these photo/s Ms Spiller is arranging some of her expert examples of Years 9 and 10 ceramics in the display cabinet in the main hallway in the administration block for passing students and teachers to see. This display is frequently refreshed as the students take their work home and other expert examples are made in 3D Art. If you have ever seen a display of floating islands with miniature worlds, made from recycled material, these are also part of the sculpture course work undertaken in 3D art. Everyone can enjoy the diversity of the fantastic ideas that students design and make at the Senior Campus. Maybe next year, your work will be among them!

New Machines in Room A9

This is not a coke machine on steroids! This is our new laser cutter. The Technology Faculty is excited about possibilities for the future. This machine will enable us to take our courses to the next level and enable students to gain skills for the work place.
