We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Finishing Assistant Editor to join our post-production team. In this role, you will manage media and projects through finishing, ensuring all deliverables meet client specifications and uphold our company’s creative and technical standards. You will handle multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating closely with Producers, Creative Coordinators, Finish Coordinator, Director of Post, and clients to deliver finish-quality content on time. Candidates must be able to work on-site at our office in Santa Monica, CA.
Responsibilities:
Organize sequences for finishing; performing 2-pop checks, updating slates, ensuring proper timing and length of cuts, overcutting with approved media, collapsing video tracks, arranging the audio bed by DX/FX/MX, flagging/requesting graphics/text/shots treated in AVID and requiring in house finalizing.
Prepare approved sequences for out of house finishes; providing requested video and audio elements such as reference/unmatted movs, AAFs, EDLs, consolidated bins, mixdown sources, etc.
Finalize sequences for in-house delivery: upscaling video and graphics; syncing final audio mixes; creating digital conforms, as needed; handling subtitle/closed caption creation, as needed; making slight audio mixing or color grading adjustments, as needed; organizing and properly naming final bins and sequences
Export final deliverables in accordance with client specifications and perform quality control checks on all deliverables before internal creative sign-off and client distribution
Support a range of day-to-day operational tasks including: project management, tracking, and archiving; media organization, transcoding, and importing; sequence updating and exporting; online postings for internal and client review
Identify technical issues related to software, hardware, or workflows and recommend improvements to optimize performance and efficiency
Qualifications:
Understanding of codecs, frame rates, resolutions, title/action safe areas, and color spaces
Understanding of audio sample rates, bit depth, and loudness standards
Detail-oriented, with strong quality control awareness and technical knowledge of theatrical/broadcast/digital industry standards
A proactive, forward-thinking attitude with the ability to assess situations, troubleshoot solutions, and determine the best course of action in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing deadlines
Excellent communicator across internal teams and external partners, with strong judgment to seek input and collaborate when needed
Service oriented mindset, focused on assessing client needs based on previous experiences
High proficiency in AVID, Adobe Premiere Suite, Windows PC, and Mac OS
Moderate proficiency in DaVinci Resolve
Color grading and audio mixing experience is a bonus

Hours: 10a-7p with possible OT
Location: Hybrid; must be within commuting distance of main office in Santa Monica, CA
Compensation:
$30-40/hr
