What do we do in choir?
The purpose of the Graham Choirs is to provide students with an exemplary choral music education, and to develop artistry, cultivate connection, and inspire joy.
We aim to reach our mission through vocal and musicianship training, appropriate/ inspiring repertoire, games, community building, outreach, performances, travel, and fun.
We aim to bring together the Graham community in the performance of great music shared and celebrated by all. We aim to provide memorable musical experiences that last a lifetime.
How can you help?
Get involved in the Graham Performing Arts Committee, which is a subcommittee of the PTA. We meet monthly on Zoom to plan fundraising, performance events, and report out on all of the performing arts groups!
Also...DONATE! Please consider giving a donation of any amount to Graham Performing Arts. With these donations, we purchase, sheet music, repair instruments, have our students attend adjudication, bring in clinicians, and pay for performance travel. All donations are spent on the music students and help to provide a fantastic experience.
Most of a students' choir grade is based on their rehearsal skills. They are skill building daily and so full daily participation is necessary for growth. Students are being graded using the following rubric.
Rehearsal Skills Rubric
4: I fully participated in choir today with self efficacy. I had and used all my needed materials (music, pencil, etc), always sang, used appropriate posture, used solfege hand signs, and rhythm patsching.
3: I mostly participated in choir today with some support/reminders. I had and used my materials most of the time. Sang most of the time, used appropriate posture most of the time, and used solfege hand signs and rhythmic patsching most of the time.
2: I participated somewhat in choir today. I forgot my materials or didn't look at them much. I sang sometimes.. I only used solfege hand signs and patsching some of the time with some reminders and prompting..
1: I barely participated in choir today. I only used materials, sang, sat up/stood up, used hand signs, and patsching when prompted by the teacher. I needed multiple prompts and reminders to participate.
0: I did not participate in choir today, even with multiple prompts and support from the teacher.
A veces cantaba...
