The Mount Vernon School District is located 60 miles north of Seattle in the fertile Skagit Valley. Our growing, diverse district serves more than 6,200 students in grades K–12. We operate six elementary schools (K–5), two middle schools (6–8), one high school (9–12), and one home‑school parent partnership (K–12). We’re united by a shared mission: placing students at the center of everything we do.
In our district, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs play a crucial role in preparing students for future success. These programs offer a wide range of courses that combine academic knowledge with practical skills, providing students with valuable hands-on experience in various fields. Our district is committed to enhancing CTE programs to ensure that all students graduate with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the workforce.
CTE combines rigorous academics with hands-on experiences so every student graduates with the skills, confidence, and awareness to thrive after high school. Our programs span agriculture, early childhood education, healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and more.
Career Connected Learning ensures that every student can combine classroom learning and workplace skills to build their confidence and be successful after they graduate. Exploratory career programs or activities provide exposure to jobs and industries. These activities are designed to promote awareness of careers, workplace norms and employer expectations, as well as personal interests and aptitudes for students. Advance programs provide academic skills and hands-on experience to prepare for future jobs. Activities are designed to provide an in-depth discovery of a particular career and the development of the skills and understanding of the education or training needed in a particular industry or occupation.
