For some classes this week, we will be reading some excellent picture books that introduce students to the concept of the word refugee, and introduce them to children from around the world who have had to leave their home because their home land is no longer safe. For more information about the books and others with the same theme, you can check out the presentation with links.

Thank you to the wonderful Shannon McClintock Miller (The Library Voice) for creating a Virtual Makerspace for all of us who love to make, but cannot visit our local makerspace right now. She has provided so many different activities to try out, from art to music to designing, that you should be able to find something that interests you in the virtual world.

This is my daughter, Gracie Ermi, who came to speak to all of my library classes in January about her work with whale researchers as a software engineer. She is also part of a project called If Then/She Can, that works to inspire girls to go into the STEM fields. And she attended Jefferson, Mount Baker, MVHS, and Western Washington University!

You can also watch some of the other women in STEM on the CBS Saturday morning show, Mission Unstoppable.
