Virtual Makerspace!

Monday, October 4, 2021

Thank you to the wonderful Shannon McClintock Miller (The Library Voice) for creating a Virtual Makerspace for all of us who love to make, but cannot visit our local makerspace right now.  She has provided so many different activities to try out, from art to music to designing, that you should be able to find something that interests you in the virtual world.

This is my daughter, Gracie Ermi, who came to speak to all of my library classes in January about her work  with whale researchers as a software engineer.  She is also part of a project called If Then/She Can, that works to inspire girls to go into the STEM fields.  And she attended Jefferson, Mount Baker, MVHS, and Western Washington University!

You can also watch some of the other women in STEM on the CBS Saturday morning show, Mission Unstoppable.

She created many of the world's most interesting and identifiable buildings in recent years.  She designed museums, sports facilities, transportation hubs, and more.  You can see some of her most beautiful and functional buildings in the short video.
