Mr. Saylor studied Jazz Performance and Education at William Paterson University of New Jersey and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2010 with a concentration in saxophone. He earned his Master's degree in Music Education from IUP in 2016. Mr. Saylor has studied and/or performed with Dr. Keith Young, Dr. Jack Stamp, Mulgrew Miller, Cecil Bridgewater, Harold Mabern, Clark Terry, Doc Severinsen, Mike Tomaro, and Rich Perry of the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. He has written music for marching bands and other ensembles including Wolves in Sheep's Clothing, Indonesian pop singer Eva Celia, and the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps. He remains active as a composer/arranger - publishing projects on Twitter and Instagram as @bensaylormusic - and performs locally as a multi-instrumentalist. Mr. Saylor also serves as the music director at Word of Grace Fellowship in Indiana.
Mr. Saylor was the Band Director at United High School for five years. He now teaches music at Horace Mann Elementary School in Indiana Area School District. Mr. Saylor lives in Indiana with his wife and five children.
