Welcome to Core Class, 2023/2024
My name is Ms. Hudson and I am super excited to be here with you at MVMS! This year will be my 6th year at MVMS, and my 18th year teaching overall. Even though I have had the opportunity to teach a variety of grade levels, I can honestly say that for me middle school is where it's at! In this class we will dig deeply into history from the year 0 all the way to the 1500's. While doing this, we will make connections between past and present events and learn the importance of studying the historical impacts. We will learn about different empires and civilizations and how they laid the foundations for the world we live in today. We will also examine historical themes and trends and discover that history does truly tend to repeat itself.
In Langauage Arts we will engage in a variety of classroom activities geared towards developing a deeper sense of meaning in literature. We will make reading a priority by reading short stories and shared novels while making time for read for pleasures books. My goal by the end of this year is to ensure that all students in my classes participate in deep conversations about what they are reading and, in doing so, develop skills that they will use independently this year and beyond.
A little about me.....
In my free time you will usually find me hanging out with my three daughters and our little dog, Carmelita. One of my passions is traveling and discovering new things. I am a fluent Spanish speaker with a love of Latin American culture. I enjoy spending time strolling through markets, running half marathons and most of all, I really enjoy a good book. I grew up in Mill Valley, graduating from both MVMS and Tam High. I have a BA in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Chico State and a Masters degree in Administration from San Francisco State. I also have a Bilingual credential (BCLAD) in Spanish, and a Multiple Subjects credential. In addition to this, I have completed the majority of the course work for an MA in Language and Literature. Currently I am in the process of completing the Praxis exams to obtain a single subject credential in Social Studies.
