The A+ Schools Program was established by the Outstanding Schools Act of 1993 to reward students for maintaining a record of good school achievement and also to provide them with an opportunity for post-secondary education. Pacific High School has been designated an A+ School.
Students who meet the criteria may be eligible to receive reimbursement for two years toward the cost of tuition after federal post-secondary financial assistance funds have been applied. These financial incentives are subject to legislative appropriation. This year could see further changes in funding.
To retain this eligibility after graduation during the four-year window of incentive availability, students must maintain a 2.5-grade point average while enrolled and attending a Missouri public community college, vocational or technical school on a full-time basis.
Criteria for A+ Eligibility:
A+ requirements can be found in Board Policy JFCL. Students must complete all requirements for eligibility.
● Attend a designated A+ school for two consecutive years prior to high school graduation
● Graduate from high school with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
● Have at least a 95% attendance record for the four-year period
● Perform fifty (50) hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring with other Meramec Valley students
● Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoidance of the unlawful use of drugs/alcohol

Attendance Requirement
A+ participants are expected to attend school regularly. A+ participants must graduate with a minimum cumulative (grades 9 – 12) attendance rate of 95%. (An attendance rate of 94.9% will not be rounded.)
Attendance is based upon all days when school is in regular session. Only the days and times calculated for Average Daily Attendance (ADA) will be used to determine the 95% attendance requirement.
The A+ attendance policy may provide relief in cases where the absence was beyond the control of the A+ participant via a review process by the A+ Coordinator. Each A+ participant should read and understand this attendance policy. If attendance drops below 95%, a student can appeal to the A+ committee, but documentation will be required. Attendance review will not be granted for the following:
Truancy
Suspension
Personal/Family Vacation
Private transportation problems
Routine doctor or dental check-up visits (including ortho)
Absences due to Final Exam Exemptions
Personal travel for non-school club or activities
