COACHING CERTIFICATIONS/ DOCUMENT CHECKLIST:
Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate.It is mandatory that every High School Coach take and pass the CIF “Fundamentals of Coaching” Certification Course. The course is offered online at www.nfhslearn.com . The cost is $52 A copy of your certification card must be submitted to the District Office. Done only 1 time
Concussion in Sports Training Certificate It is mandatory that every High School Coach complete the “Concussion in Sports”online. www.nfhslearn.com This course is free. Must be updated every two years.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certificate It is mandatory that every coach complete the “Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course”. www.nfhslearn.com This course is free. Must be updated every two years.
Heat Illness Certificate It is mandatory that every coach complete the “Heat Illness ”. www.nfhslearn.com This course is free. Must be updated every two years.

Lifeguard Certificate It is mandatory that every MVLA High School Coach complete Lifeguard Certification for water sports only. (Water Polo, Swimming and Diving). Send completed certificate to the District Office.
TB Test- Updated every 4 years to the District Office.
Social Security Card
California Picture ID
Fingerprints- Done only 1 time when hired in the District. Does not transfer from one district to another. The District Office provides a form.

VOLUNTEER COACHES REQUIREMENTS
All of the below must be submitted digitally before submitting the volunteer application.
A digital image of your tuberculosis (TB) test OR risk assessment, completed within the last four (4 years) to be uploaded with the MVLA Volunteer application.
If you do not have a current TB test, you may obtain a TB test by completing and printing this form and testing at the district’s provider, Concerta: MVLA TB Test Authorization Form
If you previously tested positive for TB, you may complete and print the MVLA TB Risk Assessment Form and have it signed by a physician.
A digital image of your driver's license or federal ID (photo) to be uploaded with the MVLA Volunteer application.
You will need to submit a digital image of your COVID-19 vaccination, uploaded to the MVLA Volunteers COVID Vaccination Card form. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated.
A completed MVLA Volunteer application where you will include the digital TB and ID images to the application.
Once the application is completed and submitted to MVLA, a member of the Personnel Department will review the application.
Upon review and verification of the application, you will then receive an email with the following information:
A form by which you will need to complete the Live Scan fingerprints. Make sure to retain your Live Scan service receipt and confirmation of your online training for your records.
NOTE: Please be aware there are often fingerprint delays and we are unable to predict a timeline for clearance. Please expect anywhere from one to eight weeks for DOJ processing.

Per district policy, you may not begin volunteering until cleared by the MVLA District Office - Personnel Department.

If my certificates are not up to date will I get paid? No.

How do I know my certificates are up to date?
NHFS courses are good for 2 years- go to the website and look up your name.
CPR/First Aid valid for 2 years
