Update: The district continues to provide free breakfast and lunch for children 0 to 18 years old at all our schools (MVJH, FMES, CMES) and at mobile meal stops (see the district's page for routes) from 8:00 to 10:00 am, Monday to Friday. The free meals are available to all families with children in the community, not just for MVESD students.
A local church organization is helping provide meals to our community, as well. Mohave Valley Food Pantry can be reached at, (928)-768-8779 during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM. They are located at 1593 E Lipan Bvld. in Fort Mohave. They ask that you bring an I.D. and proof of address.
-----------------------
Starting Wednesday, April 1, meal vouchers will be available for families. This makes picking up meals for the kids easier.
A voucher will allow you to pick up meals for every child (0 to 18yrs old) in the family without them actually being present.
To register for a voucher, all the kids need to be present so that they can be counted. After that, they can stay at home.
If you lose your voucher, you would need to register again. That means every child in the family needs to be present to be counted.
Update: As MANDATED by the state of Arizona, we are providing our first grade families with learning packets and online resources to help kids stay on-grade-level and to prepare them for second grade. There is no credit or grade for work done. Your reward is solely learning and growth.
______________________________
We will continue to provide weekly packets for our first graders every Friday. They are available for pick-up from various locations (District Office, MVJH, FMES, CMES, and at mobile meal stops), as well as electronically.
Your teacher has contacted you about your preferred pick-up location. Please only pick-up packets from the specific location you told your teacher so we don't run out of copies for everyone. If you need to update your pick-up location, please let your teacher know. For the same reason, please only pick up a packet for your child's current grade.
Every packet will have the following:
-English Language Arts (ELA) that includes reading comprehension, fluency, phonics, vocabulary, grammar, and writing
-Math
-Science or Social Studies- (Research and Inquiry) Family Project
- Answer key for the previous week's packet
It is okay to take your time. Work at a pace that is beneficial for your family. There is no need to turn in completed packets, but it is necessary that your children keep working on their academic skills so they are prepared for the next grade.
Since school is officially closed for the remainder of the school year, we will no longer be taking grades. We are not collecting completed work. However, it is important that your child keeps working on their learning packets.
Our first graders are going to need to be ready for the rigor of second grade. These packets have been put together with care so that our kids are as ready as they can be considering the fact that they won't be in the classroom for 4 months.
