Supplies: You must bring the following to class daily:
Chromebook
Binder/notebook
Sharpened Pencils
Pen used to grade
Dry erase marker
Grading Policy: Anything that you turn in for a grade MUST be done in PENCIL. Grades will be calculated using the following method:
Participation will be one category and count for 10% of your grade.
Daily Homework assignments will be completion grades worth 2 pt. 2 pts for completing the assignment, 1 pt for ½ of the assignment up to one less than completing the assignment and/or not showing work, 0 pts for less than ½ or not at all.
All homework will be uploaded into Canvas.
Homework will be one category and count for 10% of your grade.
The students are responsible to grade and correct their own homework. I do all of the homework myself, and they grade from the assignment I did. If they don’t understand what they did wrong, I will walk them through the problem. The students will upload their corrected homework back into Canvas. I do not just look at the answer, but the process they took to get to the answer. If they just change an answer, it will be marked wrong. Work needs to be shown in order to get credit. So if they got the problem right in class and the problem has work, they would get full credit. If they got it wrong in class, but had a correction or a specific explanation on what they did wrong, they will get full credit. If they don’t have a correction, specific explanation, or work, they will not get credit. IF THEY DON'T FINISH THE ASSIGNMENT, THEY CAN FINISH IN IN ORDER TO GET CREDIT FOR THEIR HOMEWORK CORRECTION. Each homework assignment will have one question graded worth 5 pts.
These are examples of unacceptable explanations:
"I don't know."
"I didn't understand."
"I did my math wrong."
"I didn't do the problem."
Just writing the correct answer.
Anything that does not match what they did wrong in the problem is still incorrect.
IF YOU DO NOT GET FULL CREDIT, THERE WILL BE A COMMENT IN CANVAS THAT EXPLAINS WHY OR IT IS MARKED "MISSING" OR "LATE" IN CANVAS.
Spiral Review will be completed once a week and will count for 10% of your grade. They can be turned in even if it isn't finished. They must submit their spiral review by noon to have it graded for the day. The daily bellwork matches sections in the spiral review, and students are given time each day to complete those sections after we go over the bellwork.
Quizzes (30%) and Tests (40%) will be one category and count for 70% of your grade.
TESTS: Tests are generally given at the end of each chapter in the textbook. Students will be given at least three days' notice prior to a test; therefore, if you are absent the day before a test, you are still expected to take the test on the date scheduled. If you have an excused absence, you can take a make-up test during homework time during class. It is your responsibility to set up a time to take the test with the teacher.
QUIZZES: Chapter quizzes will generally be given around the halfway point of the chapter.
HOMEWORK: Homework is the best way to learn and practice the information, and I expect everyone to complete all homework assignments. Homework must be done in pencil. Homework is to have your name (first and last) and assignment written in the top right hand corner. You must show the work necessary to arrive at an answer to get complete credit. We will go over homework at the beginning of the next day. You are expected to grade your homework in pen.
In case of illness, you will be given the same number of days you were ill to complete the assignments. It is your responsibility to get the assignments from the Team Victory Homework Page in Canvas.
Extra Help: I am willing to help you before or after school and Success when you are having difficulties. Please schedule a time with me if you need this help. However, you need to always help yourself by taking good class notes, completing daily homework, and asking questions during the homework time.
Classroom Expectations:
Respect individuals in this class -- the teacher, other students, and any guests.
Follow all classroom procedures and directions the first time they are given to you.
Consequences for misbehavior:
We will follow the S.T.E.P. program for discipline and consequences. This program is outlined in your assignment notebook.
