Hello! As we get our bearings, I thought it best to continue with the poetic movements we've covered so far as opposed to starting new ones. In the attachment at the bottom of the page is a collection of Romantic and Gothic poems. Here are the guidelines for the assignment:
ALL WORK IS DUE BY 11:59pm ON FRIDAY, 4/3/20.
In the top-left corner of every poem, it is labeled by day. Every day counts as one assignment.
For every poem, write a one paragraph (at least five sentences) response to one of the following prompts:
Is the poem Romantic or Gothic? How do you know? Make sure to use a direct word for word quote to support your claim. Explain how the quote supports your claim.
Poem usually have two meanings, the surface meaning and the deeper meaning. What are the two meanings in this poem? How do you know? Make sure to use a direct word for word quote to support your claim. Explain how the quote supports your claim.
How does the poem make you feel? How does the language the author uses create that feeling? Think about word choice, imagery, symbolism, et cetera. Make sure to use a direct word for word quote to support your claim. Explain how the quote supports your claim.
What is the format of the poem? What is its rhyme scheme? What is its meter? Does it use assonance or consonance or alliteration? How do these techniques add to the poem? Make sure to use a direct word for word quote to support your claim. Explain how the quote supports your claim.
Do your best to write with academic spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Responses can be typed as an email and sent to apfaff@mv.org or can be written on paper, photographed clearly, and emailed to apfaff@mv.org. THE SUBJECT OF THE EMAIL SHOULD BE THE DAY NUMBER OF THE POEM(S).
