Sophomore Year

In order to be classified as a sophomore, students must have earned a minimum of 5 credit hours. All students will be enrolled in 7 classes. The following is a guideline of requirements:

1 Unit of Language Arts:

  • English II OR
  • English II Accelerated


1 Unit of Social Studies:

  • World History OR
  • AP World History


1 Unit of Science:

  • Physical Science,
  • Chemistry OR
  • Physics


1 Unit of Mathematics*:

  • Geometry,
  • Algebra II, OR
  • Algebra II Accelerated

*Successful completion of Algebra 1 is required.


Additional Units including but not limited to: World Languages, Computer Technology, Fine Arts, Personal Finance, or additional electives


College Prep Elective Recommendations: In order to meet required graduation requirements for the college prep curriculum, students must successfully complete 2 years of the same language or computer technology courses. Students who opt out of the college prep curriculum must successfully complete 1 year of world language or computer technology. Please select from one of the areas below (either world language OR computer technology).

World Languages:

  • French I OR French II
  • Spanish I OR Spanish II


Computer Technology:

  • Computer Applications I (semester) and Google Applications (semester),
  • Game Design and Development (sem) and Intermediate Game Design and Development (sem), OR
  • Fundamentals of Technology (full year)
  • Video Media Fundamentals (sem) and Digital Video Editing (sem)
