Welcome Timberwolves students and families to LD Ski/Ride Club
My name is Mrs. April Kraklow along with Mr. Mario Romero we are the LD Ski/Ride Advisors. We wanted to share a little about the club and how our weekly trips work. If you have an emergency while we are at Alpine please contact my cell phone 414-313-5105, text messages are best as it can be loud in the lodge or we may be on the hill. I can easily read and reply to a text with my gear before I can hear a phone call. You can also always email me at april.kraklow@muskegonorway.org or office 262-971-1790x 4504
Bus lists will be posted outside student services the week of December 1st. There are no changes to bus lists. Please know your bus number before Tuesday. Bus rules are simple, no loud music, yelling, or throwing of items or food. Any behavior that is inappropriate to others or disruptive to the driver will be directed to the school administration and parents.
On the first trip, students can choose their seats on the bus. We will allow food/drink on the bus as long as it is done responsibly.
As we head to Alpine, remember that you represent Lake Denoon and yourself - therefore, exceptional behavior is expected.
When bringing your ski and board items to school, we are allowed to store our items on the stage; however, they must be placed to the back of the stage and out of the way of the curtain.
Students will be allowed to leave their classrooms at 2:30. Do not leave earlier than this scheduled time. If you are in the commons before this time, you will be asked to go back to class and forgo the trip for the day.
Club cards are part of your fees, Alpine provides each club member a card that is worth $30, so don’t lose it. Alpine provides a discount for members throughout the season, their calendar can be found HERE
We will pass out club cards - if you lose it, the cost for replacement of those is $30. You need them to test the first night. You need these for your evaluation and this is required. You will need them in the future if you want to move up to higher levels on hills. They are also what help you ski and board at a discount when you come on your own.
Weekly we will pass out lift tickets, wickets, and rental forms on the bus.
Arrival to Alpine
We normally arrive around 3:10, you will leave your backpack on the bus. Take money for dinner and all ski/ride equipment, coats, hats, and gloves with you as the buses are locked and/or leave Alpine during our trip.
All seasoned ski/ride club members: please help all our new members.… make sure everyone is comfortable and that they know where to go.
Keep the commons area clean. This is a public space so again you represent Lake Denoon. All belongings are on top of lockers or in lockers. You do not need to pay for a locker, you can use it without paying. All of you need to remember that this is a public place - other people are using this area - so keep it all clean.
We recommend checking on Amazon or with Play It Again Sports or a local sporting goods store, often you can find a helmet for $30-$50 which is cheaper and more convenient than renting from Alpine.
Rental equipment is expected to be returned properly at the end of each night. Anything that is not returned will be charged to the student.
You will be assessed as a skier and boarder the first night. All members must go to the bunny hill to test and get their club card punched. It is not an option. If you need a lesson, this will also be the time to complete this. Even if you skied or boarded in the past, I highly recommend taking a refresher lesson.
We will be stationed on the bottom of the hills during the first couple trips and walking around. If you need assistance with anything, you may also find us in the ski school area in the lodge.
On most trips, we try to get out and ski on the hill and get pictures of the club members. However, for safety, you can always find someone from either Lake Denoon or Muskego Lakes located by the ski school desk in the lodge. If an emergency arises while on the hill please contact Alpine Ski Patrol they are often on the hill wearing RED jackets and/or you can tell any of the lift workers.
IMPORTANT For Parents, if your student is not riding home on the bus for any trip, please complete this FORM. We need to see and talk to you for verbal permission that you are at Alpine and taking your child home. Last thing we want is to hold up departure because we are searching for a student on the hill that is riding home with a family member. Nor do we want to leave a student at Alpine without a ride back home.
We return to the bus by 7:20. That means, all your belongings are loaded and on the bus by this time! We depart promptly at 7:30. Remember, if you are late, it affects everyone on the bus getting home. Check your watches, your phone, or clocks in the lodge. Be on time!! If you are late for the bus, you will forgo your next trip. Parents - pick up is promptly at 8:00 pm. Please be on time.
Thank you for your help and support in making Ski and Ride Club a success each year.
