Great tool for teaching coding to early learners. Includes challenge cards and small action cards to layout the required code before entering it into the mouse.
Each 16 square maze can be configured in a variety of formats. Assemble the green tiles and design a maze with a starting and ending location (cheese); program/code the mouse to navigate your maze. Code and Go Mouse manual (12 page .pdf)
The Bee-Bot and mat and Code and Go Mice kits are available for FREE for Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Educators ($35 to join for life) - just complete the short STEM Kit application (they usually send more than one kit - based on the number of students)
Tips
Create your own challenge or use the coding activity cards
Use the small sequencing cards to play the program before entering the code sequence into Colby (blue) or Jack (purple)
Green button to start program, yellow button clears program, red button for "action" (lightning bolt on the activity card)
Pressing a turn arrow only turns the mouse - no forward movement
Never force or push the mouse or it will strip the gears (replacement mice are $23 each)
Watch the mouse when it reaches the cheese!
