Learn to use the design thinking process to solve real-world problems and create a prototype which can be 3D printed. Understand how to use Design Thinking and Project-Based Learning elements in cross curricular applications. Model the workflow process from design to a finished printed object. You will be introduced to using Tinkercad, and learn to prepare (slice) a project you design and send it to the 3D printer. Learn about 3D printer settings such as infill and rafts, and how to load/change filament and troubleshoot 3D printer problems. You will get hands-on practice with a variety of 3D printers, and an option to borrow a 3D printer for 2 weeks for additional practice if desired. A wealth of 3D printers and PBL/Design Thinking curriculum resources will be shared. Lunch will be on your own from 11:30 - 12:30. Safe COVID protocols will be followed including social distancing and for those who are not fully vaccinated, face masks are required.
