Pearl Zanker Elementary

Principal: Ms. Trisha Lee

Assistant Principal: Mr. Jaime Soria

Dear Zanker Parents and Community,

As I reflect on the last five years of time at Pearl Zanker Elementary School, I am proud of the work we have accomplished. The work of Personalizing Learning for students, Professional Learning Community Collaboration time, Art/Music/Dance Enrichment and Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports have made a positive impact on our student learning and culture for students and staff at Zanker School.

There have been many other initiatives our school has embarked upon over the course of the five years we have evolved as a school community. All of these could only be possible with the work of our incredible community working together. The amazing staff and parent collaboration has supported this growth for our school.

It is with bittersweet emotions as the 2017-18 school year comes to an end. Next year, I will be leading Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary School. After 18 years of serving the Milpitas community, I knew the time was right, to move my family to a new community, outside the south Bay Area and look into another leadership opportunity to continue my growth. It has been been my honor leading such an incredible staff and student community and I am proud of the work we have accomplished, together. As a team, we have created a school community, which is caring, supportive and challenging for our children.

Change can provide energizing opportunities for new perspectives and learning to take place. Providing a chance to practice professional growth mindset is very important. I know there is still challenge and work to be done here at Zanker and in Milpitas; however, I feel I am leaving the school in a great place.

Since I never like to say goodbye, I will use a common Hawaiian saying, a hui hou kakou, which means "until we meet again."

Humbly yours,

Trisha Lee

Happy Summer!
