ABOUT US

Principal’s Message

On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to welcome you to Anthony Spangler Elementary! If you are new to Anthony Spangler Elementary, we offer you our warmest welcome. If you have students returning to Spangler, we welcome you back to school. I hope that your summer was filled with fun and relaxation. Our dedicated staff has been hard at work preparing to meet the individual needs of all our students, and are eager to begin the 17/18 school year. Together, we will create a year of excellence for our children as we focus on improving student and family engagement, implementing the Common Core State Standards and creating and maintaining a PeaceBuilder's school culture. We are determined to deliver excellent reading, mathematics and writing instruction as we continue our focus on implementing our Theory of Action as the foundation of our daily work with students, teachers and parents.

Your active participation in your child’s education is appreciated. Please, take the time to become familiar with the Spangler Family Handbook. This handbook addresses many issues that may arise during the school year. Helping our students maintain punctuality and attendance is instrumental in developing positive work habits and ensuring success in school. Planning family vacations during the summer break, holiday vacations, and/or over Spring break is greatly appreciated. This will help eliminate the possibility of your student/s developing gaps in their education and assist in student achievement.

We invite you to become an active participant in our school community through volunteering, joining our PTA, or attending and supporting school events. Research clearly supports that when parents/guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of academic success.

I believe that communication is the key to a successful educational experience. To that end, we have planned monthly Parent/ Principal coffee meetings scheduled on the school calendar. Together, we will continue to improve the quality of our school community and provide the best for our Spangler students. All students are more successful when we work as a team to achieve educational goals.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or stop by my office. I look forward to working with you and your children throughout the school year.

Yours Truly,

Catherine Waslif
