Love4Literacy exploration classes are intra-year educational opportunities for young students and their families.
Incoming Kindergarten and First grade students will explore foundational literacy and math skills in a fun and interactive project based curriculum. Over the course of 16 weeks, students will explore literacy, math, listening, rhyming, music, communication, self-help skills and more to prepare them for the remaining school year and beyond.
Student and family members will meet 1.5 hours a week with a Milpitas Unified School District kindergarten or first grade teacher. Family members are asked to participate in the full 1.5 hours as they partner with their young student in the classroom and at home.
Families in the Rose, Randall, Burnett and Weller school communities are eligible to participate. Love4Literacy program coordinators work directly with pre school and elementary school sites to recommend students for the exploration classes. Students and families will be asked to participate by invitation only.
Exploration classes for the 2019-2020 school year begin in January of 2020.
