This is my 19th year teaching at Weller Elementary School, but I have been teaching in Milpitas for 25 years. I grew up in Newark and continue to live there today. I attended Newark schools throughout elementary and Jr. High. However, I attended Moreau High School in Hayward, California. Growing up in the Bay Area, I went to college and graduated from San Francisco State with my Bachelors. (My father was born in San Francisco, which made it special for me.) Later, while raising my son, I returned to school to obtain my Teaching Credential, and in 2017, just before remarrying, I completed my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My path is a testament to the idea that it’s never too late to pursue new goals.
Teaching has always been my passion. As a child, I would play “school” with my younger sister, who is now also an educator, teaching first grade in Fremont. I have three sisters altogether (I am #3).
In December 2020, I lost my wonderful husband to cancer. He was a kind, vibrant presence in my life, and I am grateful for the time we shared, especially during his final year when we were both able to work from home. His absence is deeply felt, but the support of friends and family has been invaluable. I cherish his memory and continue to find strength in the community around me.
I am the proud parent of a grown son, Joseph, and the devoted caretaker my dog, Jax. My husband and I shared a passion for live music—especially Bruce Springsteen—and we loved exploring new destinations together. Over the years, our travels have taken us to Mexico, France, England, Germany, Amsterdam, and many wonderful places across the United States. After his passing, I have continued our dream by traveling to Italy and Scotland.
As a family, we have cherished many moments attending Giants games together. I am deeply honored to teach in Milpitas, a district I truly admire. I look forward to an exciting and rewarding year ahead with all of you in our classroom.
