Hello Parents and Guardians of Room 29,
We have had a very busy over the past several months. Students have been working on developing critical thinking questions to ask Mr. Cano, City of Milpitas Assistant Manager. Students were able to interview him this past Thursday to help develop their interviewing strategies and techniques. This will be used in an opinion writing piece about how "Can students help make Milpitas a better city." In math we are diving deeper into learning how to multiply fractions and we will move on to learn how to make decimals. In social studies students have been learning about Native Americans and how the lived, altered their environment, and more. In Language Arts we have been reading By The Great Horn Spoon (our second book study) and how to use different strategies for learning comprehension, discussion, and presentation techniques. Over the next few weeks I will be teaching the students how to make model dioramas to show a scene in their favorite book. Please send any extra card board you have over the next week so we can begin this project.
Mr. Throm

A few helpful reminders:
Please have all students in bed by 8:30. This is a pinnacle time in their growing process and students need sleep.
Encourage students to show you their weekly planner and the tasks they have completed daily.
I have placed a Weekly Planner Schedule under the "Student Files" to help everyone understand what is being done together as a class and what is homework. I will also be making minor changes to our Google Classroom throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Throm.
