Murray Business and Professional Women’s Club Records
MS85-03 consists of newsletters, press books, and ephemera created by the Murray Business and Professional Women’s Club of Murray from 1965 to 1969. Included in the collection are newspaper clippings, programs and photographs of events sponsored by the club and other organizations attended by club members.

Millions of working American women were laid off or forced back into a narrow range of gendered career options after World War II, but labor force participation rates steadily rose to the point that by 1970 a majority of married women were engaged in paid work once again.

Carlos E. Williams Papers
World War II veteran Carlos E. Williams was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union and built many signs in the Land Between the Lakes area. This 2007 death notice from the Kentucky House of Representatives in MS12-09 honors his long and productive career in the building trades.

This picture from MS12-01 shows construction of the Kentucky Dam in the 1930s and 1940s. New Deal initiatives such as the Tennessee Valley Authority created thousands of good-paying jobs on badly-need infrastructure projects across the United States.
