About Us

Alpha Upsilon Alpha is an international, specialized honor society representing the field of reading and language arts where all majors are welcome!

The society draws its name from the Greek words, “Anagnosis,” being the word for reading; “Upotrophia,” meaning scholarship; and “Archon,” for leadership.  The purpose of the society is to recognize and service in the field of reading, with special emphasis at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Murray State's AUA consists of two groups that ACT AS ONE

Alpha Upsilon Alpha (AUA) and The Reading Club.

Alpha Upsilon Alpha

AUA is an organization open to those that have a 3.3 GPA or higher, and class rank of junior or senior.

This is one chapter of the International Literacy Association.

The Reading Club

The Reading Club is an organization open to anyone who wants to promote literacy in the community, including all undergraduate majors.   The Reading Club is also sometimes referred to as Purchase Area Council of the Kentucky Reading Association, or PACKRA.
