National Accreditation, Recognition, and State Approvals

Murray State University (MSU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Additionally, all programs that result in an educator credential are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB). This accreditation includes initial teacher preparation and advanced educator preparation programs.

CAEP Accountability Measures

Each year educator preparation provider’s (EPP) submit annual reports to  to monitor and evaluate continued compliance with CAEP Standards. The Annual Report process includes four CAEP Accountability Measures of (a) completer impact and effectiveness, (b) employer satisfaction and stakeholder involvement, (c) candidate competency at the time of program completion, and (d) ability of completers to be hired in positions for which they were prepared.

The CAEP data collection period runs from September 1 to August 31 annually. Data for the previous academic year will be reported in the upcoming CAEP Annual Report, due April 30


Impact Measures


Measure 1: Completer Effectiveness  (Component R4.1)

Data include completer impact in contributing to P12 student learning growth and completer effectiveness in applying professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions. 

Measure 2: Satisfaction of Employers and Stakeholder Involvement (Components R4.2 | R5.3| RA.4.1)

Data include survey of employer and completer satisfaction with preparation programs.

Outcome Measures


Measure 3: Candidate Competency at Completion (Components R3.3 | RA.3.4)

Data include measures used to determine if candidates are meeting program expectations and ready to be recommended for licensure (e.g.: Title II report, data reflecting ability of candidates to meet licensing and state requirements)

Measure 4: Ability of Completers to be Hired in Education Positions (Initial & Advanced Licensure)

Data include measures indicating completers hired in positions for which they have been prepared.
