Given the limited number of spaces, a percentage of spaces will be prioritized for people who self-identify as survivors of sex trafficking and/or exploitation in the sex trades.
The goal of the Multnomah County Anti-Trafficking Conference is to raise awareness and deepen understanding of the dynamics of sex trafficking, including how best to prevent and respond to it.
We recognize that there are many approaches to this work. We respect diversity of opinion and practice, and encourage respectful conversation. However, we reject approaches that are oppressive, increase risk of trafficking and further harm survivors. We will only focus on experiences in the sex trades that include force, fraud or coercion by a third party (or of minors w/o these dynamics present). We ask that participants align with that approach during the conference. Our goals are to uplift survivor voice and the experiences of marginalized communities, debunk myths and clarify realities, and work towards best practices in every facet of anti-trafficking work. Consensual sex work is not the same as sex trafficking.
This conference was created and is led by the Multnomah County Sexual Assault Advisory Council, the Multnomah County Sex Trafficking Collaborative, and has been informed by the Multnomah County Sex Trafficking Collaborative's Lived Experience Community Advisory Board.
