The goal of the Multnomah County SAAM Conference is to raise awareness and deepen understanding of the dynamics of sexual violence and sex trafficking, and how best to prevent and respond to it. This year's theme is "Building Community in Uncertain Times" and will largely have a Know Your Rights for survivors intersecting with Reproductive Justice, LGBTQIA2S+ and Immigrant & Refugee communities.
We recognize that there are many approaches to anti-sexual violence and anti-sex trafficking work. We respect diversity of opinion and practice, and encourage respectful conversation. However, we reject approaches that are oppressive, increase risk of violence and further harm survivors. We ask that participants align with that approach during the conference. Our goals are to uplift survivor voice and the experiences of marginalized communities, debunk myths and clarify realities, and work towards best practices in every facet of anti-violence work.
This conference was created and is led by the Multnomah County Sexual Assault Advisory Council.
