Where to Find Recently Released Children's Books

If you are wanting to find your own new children's books, here are several resources you can use to find

books that represent your school community!

Your Local Public Library

Your local library is always adding new and quality children's books. Check out the "new" section or ask the children's librarian for new book suggestions.

For those of you in Snohomish, new books are listed on their online catalog!

This is a great website that is updated with books by theme and country.

There are activities and lessons for some of their book selections as well.

Multicultural Children's Book Day

The Diverse BookFinder is a comprehensive collection of children's picture books featuring Black and Indigenous people and People of Color (BIPOC). The website is searchable by topic, keyword, and year published. They do warn that just because they have a book listed, doesn't mean it is recommended so you will have to research book titles for reviews.

Blogs

There are many great blogs that compile and review newly released children's books. Here are a few:

The American Library Association compiles a list each year of the best LGBTQ+ books for both young readers and young adults.

The American Library Association compiles all the award winning books from the last year in one location. You can browse over 35 different award categories and high quality children's books.

Kirkus Reviews review thousands of books each year - both adult and children's. Their reviews are unbiased and honest, and have been since 1933. You can discover new books or soon to be published books on their website!

Edleweiss+ compiles many different publishers and their catalogs. They have curated lists, or you can search by publisher, year released, or by keywords. New or soon to be published books also include thumbnails from the book to preview.

Publishers Weekly sends out newsletters with new or to be released books. "Children's Bookshelf" and "School & Library Spotlight" are great ones for children's books! Most of the newsletters include reviews of the books as well.
