Greetings MUHS Students and Families!
This is my 10th year of full-time teaching in the Visual Arts Department at Mingus Union High School.
My credentials for Art Instruction and Classroom Teaching include a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Ohio State University & a Master of Education from Prescott College with certifications in Visual Arts & Secondary Education.
I've been a resident of the Verde Valley for 27+ years and I have 2 amazing children, both of them are artists and MUHS alumni.
In addition to teaching, I am also a professional artist. I enjoy working in a variety of media - including ceramics, drawing & painting, sculpture, and hand-painted masking tape. I also love to be out in nature -collecting rocks and bones, and growing things.
Before I became a teacher, I spent many years in the professional arts sector. I also worked in the field of nonprofit ministry where I served at-risk teens and families in urban & rural communities.
In my classroom, I love to engage students in art-making processes designed to encourage growth, self-exploration, and creativity - all the while, combining these traits with the rigorous and challenging Visual Arts curriculum that Mingus's Art Department is so well known for.
Please visit my classroom website regularly for updates, and do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year of Art-making with my students!
