Each year, Muckleshoot Tribal School students take part in culturally-centered, place-based programming from the Mountains to the Sound, covering all ecosystems in between.
In 2020, the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe established a full-time classroom at Crystal Mountain. Muckleshoot’s yurt is the first and only classroom on federal land in the entire country.
The Crystal Mountain Project is a world-class, land-based program in which Muckleshoot Tribal School students in 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades, as well as high school students, experience culturally-centered programming directly aligned with Common Core, Next Generation, and OSPI's adopted standards.
Salish Sea Studies commence each spring when 1st-grade classes visit Saltwater State Park and 4th graders visit Vashon Island to reconnect with nature, study coastal plants and animals, and practice outdoor skills. These experiences are rooted in Traditional Teachings and Social Emotional Learning standards.
The Muckleshoot Tribal Education Office's Curriculum and Development Team has developed a rich and relevant curriculum in partnership with the Muckleshoot Community and educators.
Each 1st, 3rd, 5th and 8th Grade student at Muckleshoot Tribal School will have multiple opportunities to learn from and on the Land during the school year.
