MVSD Counseling Mission Statement

The Mountain View School Counseling Team is dedicated to delivering a multi‐faceted, comprehensive, and data-driven school counseling program.  In collaboration with students, staff, and families we will provide equitable services in the domains of Academic, Social-Emotional Development, and College and Career Readiness. We will support all students in acquiring the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to develop a growth mindset to become lifelong learners, effective communicators, and globally responsible citizens for the 21st century.

Dear Students and Parents,

MVSD Counselors, wanted to assure you that we are here to support the academic, and social/emotional needs of ALL students. Change can occur in everyone’s life from one day to the next. One day you may feeling scared, confused, lonely, numb, angry, grateful, or calm. Your resilience and determination is admirable. All MVSD counselors collaborated in making this website to prepare information, resources, and creative ways to to provide you with information about our counseling program & a variety of mental health resources. We want to provide information on the various ways that you can connect with us as well as participate in learning opportunities via this online platform. Role of the School Counselor


The role of a School Counselor is to implement a comprehensive school counseling program to support a student's developmental needs through interventions in academic, social/emotional, and career domains in partnership with parents, guardians, and all members of the school community. Counselors are the key stakeholders in a collaborative effort to provide a safe and supportive environment academically, physically, and emotionally. Fun Facts: I am a devoted animal enthusiast with over 15 rescue animals, including 9 dogs, 12 cats, 2 birds, and more. I have a passion for running and hiking, having completed around 50 marathons. My ultimate goal is to conquer a 100-mile race. In my downtime, I enjoy watching reality TV and SVU.

Fun Facts:Hello Comets! Mrs. Chirinos is passionate about fostering a space where students feel safe, understood, and welcomed. I believe every student is capable and I am passionate about helping students develop the skills they need to thrive academically and sociol-emotionally. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and traveling anywhere where there is a relaxing beach. I love nature, camping and I enjoy listening to music and dancing. My favorite food is Nicaraguan food and sweet desserts.

Fun Facts: Anyone who knows Ms. "D" knows that she loves family, young people- children and youth, cooking, singing, dancing, good-hearty laughter, and always looking for things to smile and make others smile. You will hear her say, "We will always come up with a solution to a problem because we have what it takes to make it together!" Another thing that always comes from Ms. "D" is unconditional love and acceptance for everyone and of course a side-side-by-side warm hug!
