Endorsements
Endorsements consist of a series of related classes and skills. At the beginning of the ninth grade year, all students must select an endorsement and create a graduation plan. There are five endorsements that consist of Arts and Humanities, Business and Industry, Public Service, STEM, and Multidisciplinary. Below is a flyer for each endorsement that details each endorsement area and careers that are related to that endorsement area.
Arts and Humanities
4 consecutive courses in Art, Theatre, Band, and Jazz Band
or
2 consecutive courses in one of the above courses
Business and Industry
Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources
Students can choose to take classes in the areas of Animal Science, Plant Science, or Metal Technologies
Arts, Audio Video Technology and Communications
Students can choose to take classes in the areas of Design and Multimedia Arts or Digital Communications
Public Service
Students can choose to take classes in the areas of Education and Training, Human Services, Health Sciences, and Cosmetology.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
Students can earn a STEM endorsement by taking 5 classes in math and/or 5 classes in science.
Multi-Disciplinary
Students earn this endorsement by completing the required courses plus the following:
• 4 advanced courses from other endorsement areas
or
• 4 credits in each foundation subject area, including English IV and chemistry and/or physics
or
• 4 credits in Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or dual credit selected from English, mathematics, science, social studies, economics, LOTE or fine arts
