General Information for Parents and School Visitors
All visitors MUST sign in at the office when entering the building.
Attendance
Doors open at 8 a.m. for students
IF YOUR CHILD IS TARDY (arrives after 8:30 a.m.), A PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST COME INTO THE SCHOOL OFFICE WITH THEIR STUDENT & SIGN THE CHILD IN ON THE LOG PROVIDED.
Students need to be in school in order to receive the best possible education. It is important that each child achieves success in school. Your encouragement and support is appreciated. Our concern is what is best for your child.
Illinois law requires regular attendance for school age children. Your responsibility as a parent or guardian is established under the School Code of Illinois. The School Code defines a "truant" as, "...a child subject to compulsory school attendance who is absent without valid cause from such attendance for a school day or portion thereof.
If your child misses school, please call the office at 244-8068 or write a note giving the reason he/she missed. We appreciate your cooperation.
Cell Phones
Cell phone use is FORBIDDEN by state law in any designated school zone! This means that even if you are waiting in line to pick up your student or have just picked up your student, you CANNOT be on your cell phone until you leave the school zone. Violators will be issued a $120 fine.
Cold Weather
If it is above 32 degrees, snow is on the ground and gusting winds, teachers will use their judgment considering the length of time to be outside. Sometimes a little fresh air and time to run is good for the students after sitting at their desks for a good part of the morning.
If your child is not to go outside for any reason, a note needs to be sent to school from the parent.
Parking
DO NOT park in the semi-circle drive in front of the Primary Center. These lanes MUST be kept clear for bus drop-off & pick-up as well as emergency vehicles.
There is NO drop-off point at the corner of North & 30th streets or in the middle of the parking lot. Please pull into the 10-minute spaces & be considerate of people backing out, to avoid accidents and keep the children safe.
Line up for K-1 car rider pick up is on North Street. Line up for 2-3 car rider pick up is on 30th Street.
SLOW DOWN in the school zone, please!
Do Not park in Handicapped spaces without a handicapped tag. Violators will be issued a $250 fine.

It will help all the students have a great year at the Primary Center!
