Dear MT Students and Parents,
I am the 6-8th grade school counselor at Mark Twain Elementary. My goal is to help you succeed at school and in your future goals. So what does a school counselor do?
•Monthly or weekly classroom visits where we discuss important topics such as bullying, conflict resolution, healthy choices, anger & stress management, colleges & careers, and more.
•Student support groups for students that need additional support to be successful in school.
•Brief counseling with students about problems they are having related to school, friends, family, and anything else they need support with.
•Community counseling referrals for students that need longer-term counseling or therapy.
•Student assistance with college & career readiness.
•Orientations for new students to acclimate to our school through various programs and activities.

Students: our talks are CONFIDENTIAL, or just between us, unless you tell me about one of the THREE HURTS:
- You are hurting or considering hurting yourself
- You are hurting or considering hurting someone else
- Someone has hurt or is currently hurting you
In these cases, I am required by law to help you get the help you need. Otherwise, please know that I am here to listen to you and support you.

Mark Twain's 6-8th grade students created the "I AM" Wall Mural during the 2020-21 school year. Students were asked to share something about themselves that might not be easily known just by looking at them. The students did a fantastic job!
