Dr. Hembroff is leading an effort to commercialize an innovative mental health and wellbeing application (available on IOS, Android, and Web) called Mindaigle. Mindaigle is designed to address the critical responsibility of K-12 schools in supporting student wellbeing through the implementation of artificial intelligence technology.
The application provides real-time insights into students' mental health by analyzing data from various sources, including social and emotional check-ins, social determinants of health, and wearable devices. This comprehensive approach enables academic institutions to gain a deeper understanding of their students' wellbeing, allowing them to offer timely support and customized matching of resources. By harnessing the power of AI, Mindaigle aims to ensure that students receive secure and the best possible care, empowering schools to proactively address mental health concerns, create a more supportive learning environment and offer an enhanced communication medium between students, parents/guardians, the school, and external healthcare support. Dr. Hembroff has received funding support by the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps™) for this commercialization endeavor.
This work's progress has been significantly enhanced with the participation and feedback of Calumet's Horizons Alternative High School, Washington Middle School, and Houghton High School. We are very appreciative of their support in helping to guide us in the development of a secure and valuable mental health and wellness application for students, parents/guardians, and K-12 staff.
