Mrs Jamie Yavorsky
Mrs Yavorsky began her instrumental music career when she signed up to play the flute in her 5th grade band at Holland Brook School in Readington, New Jersey. Her love of playing flute led her to sign up for piano lessons almost immediately, and to start both violin and viola when she added 6th grade orchestra to her schedule the next year.
Since her very first experiences playing in middle school band and orchestra, Miss Y knew she wanted to be a music teacher. She holds both a BM and MM in Music Education with Performance Honors from Syracuse University. Following graduation, she worked as the 4th-8th Band and Orchestra director at HW Smith School in Syracuse, New York before accepting her current position as the UMS Orchestra Director in the Montgomery Township School District. Her favorite part about being a musician is getting to teach and perform pieces that she loves, and she hopes to help her students do the same in her courses at UMS.
