Writers are creating their own book characters and how the characters are encountering some troubles along the way. We are thinking about how our characters can solve these problems and the lessons they will learn from them.
Writers write lots of letters regarding their opinion. Writers are learning to create a greeting and closing to their letter. Writers state their opinion, and writers provide at least two reasons to support their opinion. Writers add information from their stories to provide evidence for their reasons. Writers will write about the best book, best food, best dessert, and plenty more!
Writers write lots of information books based on their own interests. Writers write for a particular audience to provide a purpose for their writing. Writers write nonfiction books of all kinds to shape expert information in new ways. Writers will create five page nonfiction expert booklet with an introduction of their topic, three sections with factts on their topic, and a conclusion.
Writers will expand on their story-telling skills by writing a true, small moment "seed" story. Writers will think of their big idea, then narrow down their big idea to tiny moments. For example, writers may have the big idea of a beach trip, then focus on building a sand castle, surfing, or digging for sea shells. As we zoom in on one specific moment, writers will add show, not tell, details, dialogue, action, and much more to their writing.
