Syllabus A strong background in Calculus AB (first year calculus) is necessary in order to be successful in this course. After reviewing the concepts learned in Calc AB, we will build on them, by introducing new integration techniques (such as partial fractions, integration by parts and trig substitution); we will use numerical integration and find its error bounds and solve differential equations numerically, using the Eulers’ method. Other major topics explored in this course include calculus of vector- valued, polar and parametrically defined functions, improper integrals, series convergence (Taylor and Maclaurin) and numerous applications. AP Calculus C gives the students a strong foundation for the math and science courses they will take in college.
The AP Calculus curriculum culminates in an AP Calc BC exam given on May 11th , 2026.
In order to let the material sink in, check understanding through authentic practice, selected from previous years exams, we aim to reserve about 4 weeks of final review, so it is important to pace ourselves and try not to postpone learning or completing the assignments.
An essential skill you shall practice in this class will be learning how to think. As a part of the thinking process, you will practice communicating. You should daily practice and reflect on your understanding of the concepts.
TEXTBOOKS: Single Variable Calculus, James Stewart- Eighth Edition ( physical copy+ etext)
AP CLASSROOM: In addition to the textbook, you are expected to consistently use the video-tutorials and practice problems in the AP Calc BC classroom. You can access these resources and register for the AP exam , by using Total Registration for the AP COLLEGE BOARD.
TECHNOLOGY: Bring an Internet connected laptop to school and your graphing calculator every day! The recommended graphing calculator is TI-84plus. Note that you will not be permitted to use your phone in lieu of a computer. Phones and other smart devices are not allowed during class. You can always borrow a Chromebook from our class set.
