Grading and Extra Help Day

The grading policy is as follows:

50%- major assessments

40%- minor assessments

10%- homework

Extra help Day- Thursday - please let Mrs. Powers know if you are staying ahead of time

Guidelines

Textbook:  There will be online textbook access for the Space Systems, Weather and Climate and Earth’s Dynamic Systems.  There will also be hard copies available in the classroom as well.

Homework:  Occasionally, homework will be assigned.   Usually it is to finish the classwork.  Homework grades are usually based on completion.  If the assignment is late or incomplete, the student will earn 50% of the points.  No credit is given after the second day, but you should still submit late work since it will be part of your notes and eventually on the assessment. 

Absent students:  If students are absent, they will be given the opportunity to complete the work and activities.  Students are expected to complete the work within the number of days they are absent. For example, if they are out 2 days, they have 2 days to finish the work. Remember to check Parent Resources and Google classroom if possible so they do not fall too far behind in the event they are out. 

Retesting:  Students may retest for unit assessments if their grade is below a 70%.  Students must make test corrections and then retest for a max grade of 70%.  The student and teacher will arrange a time for retesting.
