Lunch and Student Accounts
This year, your child will be eating in the cafeteria! Feel free to pack a lunch for them or allow them to purchase food. You can find our cafeteria's menu here. Students will purchase school lunches using their student account. You can learn more about how to manage your child's account here.
Montgomery student accounts are hosted on a platform called PaySchools Central. Even if your child never purchases a school lunch, it is still very helpful to familiarize yourself with PaySchools, as you will have the opportunity to make other payments there, including buying a new student ID and paying for school field trips.
Please let me know if your child will be purchasing lunch, even if it is not on a regular basis. This way, I can can inform the paraprofessionals and your child will receive the proper support in the cafeteria.
Snacks
As with lunches, snacks must be nut-free. Also, please keep in mind that students are not allowed to share snacks with one another. These stipulations are to ensure the safety of our students. Thank you so much for your cooperation!
Class Celebrations and Room Representatives
Class Parties are a wonderful opporuntity to socialize at VES. Your child is included in both the Class Parties held within the Autism Program and also those in General Education.
Room Representatives (formerly known as Class Parents) are integral to planning celebrations for the Autism Program. If you would like to learn more about the responsibilities of a Room Representative, please visit the Montgomery Elementary Schools Parent-Teacher's Association (MES PTA) website, linked here.
If you are interested in becoming a Room Representative, please let me know. I greatly appreciate your support and generosity in making our community all that it can be!
Birthday Parties
We love to celebrate birthdays in our class! On their birthday, our students can opt to have their favorite picture books read aloud to the class. Please let me know what your child's preference is and I can check it out from the library.
If your child's birthday falls on a weekend, we will choose another day to celebrate. All summer birthdays will be celebrated in June. If you do not wish for your child to celebrate their birthday or any other holiday at school, please let me know as soon as possible that we can properly adhere to your wishes.
