The student has the courage and resolve (grit) to seek tasks through to completion despite setbacks and obstacles. They challenge themselves to higher level thinking by taking more challenging courses and having exposure to a higher level of rigor.

Quick Tips:

• Encourage your student to talk to their guidance counselor about their schedule and career opportunities
• “Point out times when your child perseveres or shows grit. For example, if your child gets a good grade on a test, try not to just say, "Congratulations on that good grade." Instead, say, "You studied so hard for that grade and you didn’t give up. I’m proud …”
