Mt. SAC Education for Older Adults and the Mt. SAC Equity Center will be hosting a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary, Gen Silent. In 2010, for a period of a year, Director Stu Maddux followed the lives of six LGBT elders in the Boston area as they answered the question, “How much would they leave behind in order to be safe in the long-term health care system?”. As any other older adults, LGBT seniors face the typical challenges of aging. However, because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, they are at a higher risk for abuse, isolation, discrimination and exploitation. Following the documentary, we will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from the Producer of the film Joseph Applebaum.
