About me

I have a PhD in Medieval Studies from the University of York, UK. My primary research interests centre on the political and social history of Late Medieval Paris during the reign of Charles VI (1380-1422). I have published on the political climate leading up to and during the first phases of civil war between Burgundian and Armagnac factions, several of which apply the History of Emotions and Space & Place as theoretical lenses. More recently, my interests have focused on examining Parisian space more broadly. I have recently completed a study on sustainability challenges in Paris under Charles VI called "Anti-pollution Measures and the Common Good in Medieval Paris" (https://bit.ly/3Oc4TU3). My SSHRC-funded project, "Spatial Narratives of Late Medieval Paris," is enabling me to complete my monograph entitled, A View from the Street: The Genderscapes of Late Medieval Paris. In this book, I am writing the history of Paris from below by examining the interaction between gender, space, and agency. More information on my ongoing projects are found on the Research page.
