Hey There!
My name is Alyssa Kuruliak and I am 21 years old.
I graduated from Chestermere High School in 2019 with honor roll. I am now apart of the Mount Royal Education program and I am in my final year!
I am taking on a Social Studies Minor. This was inspired by my Highschool Social Studies teacher and the joy he brought to every class.
I am super excited to get started!
I really enjoy taking care of animals and I am very lucky to have a few myself!
1. I own a dog named Max (Pictured on the left) He is 10 years old and is a Bichon Yorkie. I spend a lot of time training him and he now knows well over 20 tricks including sit, play dead, roll over, speak, hug, and many more!
2. I own a red and white betta fish named Rusty. In his tank he has seven glow light tetra buddies. I call them The Seven Dwarves. I have provided pictures to the left!

Taekwondo is one of my biggest passions, and I plan to continue it for years to come! I have been in Taekwondo since I was 4 years old and have slowly climbed the ranks to 3rd in charge at only 17 years old. When the time comes I plan to take over my instructors club, Focus Taekwondo. I have competed for years both nationally and internationally (Budapest 2016).
I am a 3rd Degree Black Belt and The Head Instructor for the Shadow Warriors (4-7). I also assist in the senior class (8 and up)

Taekwondo has made me into the person I am today, and I have made so many friends along the way. It taught me to push forward and never give up. A mindset I hope to encourage in my students some day.
One of my biggest interests is dinosaurs! For the longest time I have found these magnificent animals have had the ability to capture my heart.
Luckily for me, Alberta is a fossil hot spot! Many of these discoveries are on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum. I have visited a few times over my four year journey at MRU, and the magisty of it never gets old.
It always amazes me to think that these animals use to wander the Earth. That is why I am beyond happy that some of the Grade Four curriculum focuses on Alberta and its rich fossil history. I look forward to teaching these outcomes in Practicum II.
During my time at MRU I was lucky to take a Geological History of Life elective course. We were given two opportunities to create a open portfolio piece that highlighted your future career. I created a hand drawn and written children's book which focuses on the Cretacous creatures of Alberta. This is a resource I am excited to use in a classroom someday.
I have always enjoyed memorizing random facts and storing them away for future use. I have also always been complimented on my ability to remember things quickly. Therefore this year I decided to challenge myself. In order of most confident to least are the things I have memorized with links to the videos I used to learn them. Most come from the show Animaniacs or ASAPscience!
All 50 States and their Capitols

A Bob Ross Painting I have done!
Season 4 Episode 9- Cool Waters
Since the quarantine and self isolation began I have been working to find ways to keep myself entertained. I have taken on the task of learning to paint!
Back in February I went to a EUS (Education Undergraduate Society) event which was a Bob Ross Paint Night!
However, I also find happiness in drawing. I enjoy drawing on my Ipad the most, but sketching or doodling is also a great passtime and excellent stress reliever. I plan to introduce guided drawings as a part of a mindfulness strategy in my future classroom.
Did You Know:
There is 4 terrestrial planets and 4 jovial planets in our solar system
The gas planets (Jupiter, Saturn. Uranus, Neptune) are believed to have a solid inner core
Pluto is a dwarf planet not because of its size! Its because it has not cleared its orbit in the Kuiper Belt.
We always see the same side of the moon since Earth and The Moon has a similar orbit
Ever since preparing my first lesson plan for my Grade Sixes on the Solar System I have found great interest in all the theories, information, updates, and facts on space.
For my 18th birthday I went to see Body Worlds: Animals Inside Out.
I had enjoyed Biology throughout my High School career and was very excited to learn more about animals including squids, sharks, bulls, horses, tigers and many more!
